The Performance team return to Northern Ireland

We’ll be very active in Northern Ireland this year! Here’s a rundown of the events we have attended so far this year.

RTS NI Student Awards

On the 28^th March, our very own Gareth Graham attended the RTS NI Student Awards in Belfast, hosted by the talented BBC producer and director Jacqui Berkeley. Stephen Nolan, a television presenter for the BBC also appeared as a guest Speaker.

Stephen Nolan is more widely known for the Nolan show, on Ulster radio, which constantly tackles topical issues in Northern Ireland, which he has worked on with Jacqui Berkeley.

This year, we sponsored the Animation award, which was won by students of the Ulster University for their animation project, Adrift. For further information about the winners of the other categories, please click here.

The work and projects showcased at the awards are just a snippet of how the media industry is booming in Northern Ireland! It was great to see the emerging talent that was on show at the ceremony. Images from the event can be found here.

Belfast Film Festival

We were also privileged to sponsor the 17^th annual Belfast Film Festival, which ran from 30th March until 8th April. The Performance team attended the amazing Opening Gala at the Movie House in Belfast and also the Premier of ‘Mindhorn’, a comedy directed by Sean Foley and written by Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby.

Lastly, we were proud to sponsor the Shorts at Belfast Film Festival, held at the Queens Theatre Belfast on Saturday 1st April. The Closing Gala took place at the Movie House, for the premiere of ‘Bad Day for the Cut’. This locally based film, which Gareth describes as a gripping drama, was written by Belfast local and ex RTS NI award winner Chris Braugh, who directed the film with Brendan Mullin, also a talented Belfast local.
