THE PERFORMANCE SHORT FILM COMPETITION 2024 – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The Promoter
The promoter is: Performance Film & Media
2. The competition
2.1. The title of the competition is “Performance Short Film Competition 2024”
2.2. You must agree to provide your name, contact number and email address and submit your film via a youtube or vimeo link using the webform.
2.3. By providing these details you consent to your short film being shown at the awards on Thursday 14th November 2024.
2.4. The competition is free to enter.
2.5. The prize is £1500 cash per category, the payment will sent via BACS transfer to the individual who is announced the winner at the live event on Thursday 14th November 2024.
3. How to enter
3.1 The competition will run from 09.30 on 29/05/2024 (the “Opening Date“) to 17.00 on 12/08/2024 (the “Closing Date“) inclusive.
3.2 All competition entries must be received by the Promoter through the competition landing page www.performance-insurance.com/short-film-competition-2024/ by no later than 17.00 on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
3.3 To enter the competition:
(a) You must complete the following:
(i) The webform that can be found at www.performance-insurance.com/short-film-competition-2024/
(ii) Agree to the competition T&Cs found on the competition entry webpage: www.performance-insurance.com/short-film-competition-2024/
(iii) Accept the privacy policy https://www.howdengroup.com/uk-en/privacy-data-protection-policy
(iv) Supply contact details and consent to being contacted.
4. No purchase is necessary and there is no charge to register for use of the website.
4.1 The Promoter will not accept:
(a) responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
(b) proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
(c) Films completed before 1st January 2022
(d) Films that run longer than 20 minutes
(e) Any pornographic or adult films
4.2 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.

5. Following the closing date, the entries to the competition shall be judged in the following distinct categories
• Best Comedy Short
• Best ‘Short’ Short (less than 5 minutes in length)
• Best Documentary short
• Best Horror short
• Best Drama
5.1 The prize draw is only open to all residents in England and Wales aged 18 years or over, except:
(a) employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;
(b) employees of agents or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
(c) members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above.
5.2 In entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize you may win. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
5.3 The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are:
(a) automatically generated by computer;
(b) completed by third parties or in bulk;
(c) illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with;
(d) photocopies and not originals; or
(e) incomplete.
(f) Longer than 20minutes in length
(g) Completed before January 2022
(h) Contation adult or pornographic content
5.4 There is no limit on the number of films entered. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
5.5 The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
6. The prize
6.1 The prize is £1500 cash per catergory. There can only be one winner for each category.
6.2 You can enter competition more than once and enter your film to more than one category.
6.3 The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
7. Winners
7.1 The decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
7.2 The Promoter will announce the winner personally at the awards night on 14th November 2024.
7.3 If you object to any or all of your contact details being published or made available, please contact the Promoter Performance Film & Media (performance2@performance-insurance.com). In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
8. Claiming the prize
8.1 The prize, £1500 cash will be transferred via BACS directly to each category winner by 19th December 2024
8.2 The prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
8.3 The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 30 (thirty) days of the Announcement Date, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.
8.4 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
9. Limitation of liability
Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
10. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
10.1 The Promoter does not claim any rights of ownership in your competition entry.
11. Data protection and publicity
11.1 The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the Promoter’s Privacy Policy https://www.howdengroup.com/uk-en/privacy-data-protection-policy. See also condition 6.2 and condition 6.3, with regard to the announcement of winners.
11.2 The winner may be asked to partake in PR and/or photography for social media purposes.
12. General
12.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
12.2 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
12.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Deciding the winner
The winner(s) of each Category shall be determined as follows:
• A judging panel shall be appointed by Performance Film & Media Insurance in its sole discretion;
• After the Closing Date, Performance Film & Media Insurance shall determine a shortlist of the best Short Films;
• The judging panel shall view the Short Films on the shortlist determined by Performance Film & Media Insurance;
• By 14th November 2024, the judging panel shall announce the winner of the £1500 in each category
