2021 - The showreel!

By Michael Wood Head of Performance
A man wearing a cap operates a camera with a bright light source behind him, creating a silhouette effect.

This is always one of my favourite pieces to put together as I get the opportunity to sit and reflect of what we’ve achieved as a team over the past year, and more importantly, how we’ve helped our clients achieve their goals through providing insurance that works for them!

Thousands and thousands of projects, a growing team, plus an acquisition!

We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of projects we’ve insured this year, insuring well over of 6,000 individual projects whilst also insuring thousands of creative businesses who purchase insurance annually rather than project by project.

We’ve had three new team members, Lauren, Kirby and Tom, join your Performance team in 2021, adding some real dynamism!

We’ve also welcomed Neil and Beverley from Essex Insurance Brokers to the team. Aston Lark Limited, of which Performance is a trading name, acquired the business back in July and it’s been great having them on board. Find out more about this here.

Helping clients and getting claims paid

The simple premise of insurance is for claims to be paid when something goes wrong. Sometimes due to the nature of a claim, a process has to be followed to collate all of the right information so we can help present it to insurers to get the claim settled as promptly as possible.

Ben, our lead claims executive, joined the team last year and has been fantastic in helping to guide clients through the claims process and getting the right results for them. Of course, I’m slightly biased so here’s some examples of the feedback he’s received this year:

“Very impressed with how quickly and professionally this claim has been dealt with. Greatly appreciated.” Brad, from a leading equipment hire company

“Appreciate the speedy turn around, glad that it’s been stress-free.” Mike, a filmmaker

“Every production needs insurance and it was fortunate we chose Performance for ours, particularly since the claim ran into a few unforeseen kinks that required Ben’s expertise to untangle, which he successfully did. Working with them was a pleasure and they made the process smooth, informative, painless, and reassuring. Communication was great throughout and the warm and supportive assistance was top-notch.” Nic, founder of a production company

Short Film Competition 2021

We ran our 4th Annual Short Film Competition this year, masterminded by Charlee, who is our marketing legend!

The competition had seven cash prizes this year which took the total prizes awarded since the inaugural event to 20! That means 20 future projects which we’ve had a small part to play in. This is something we’re all proud of.

Our aim is to try to support the industry in many ways and this competition is one way to do that. If you’re reading this and you’ve not got involved yet or even if you have – keep your eyes peeled for next year. More prizes? An in-person event? Free food and drink? We’ll share the plans in the new year!

Getting out and about

2021 has seen the return of some in-person events and we quite happily joke about going to anything and everything that we’re invited to. This year saw us attend (and sometimes speak at!) industry events, film festivals, film screenings, industry awards nights – essentially if there’s an event, you’re bound to see at least one of us about!

If you’re screening your films yourselves or at festivals, do share this with us and we’ll be happy to push your success and support you via our socials. Reach out to charlee.light@performance-insurance.tv for any help or info on this.

2022?

We’ve got a load of plans to share in the new year, including the 5th Short Film Competition but for now, a HUGE thank you all for your support this year. Without our clients, none of this is possible and that’s something we’ll never forget.

Wishing you and your families a good break at the end of the year and the best wishes for the New Year.
